Course Overview
Neurological patients rarely present with a textbook picture — this course builds the clinical reasoning to work out exactly where a lesion sits and what that means for treatment, before moving into hands-on rehabilitation strategy. Led by a physiotherapy consultant with extensive hospital-based neuro-rehab experience, it bridges neuroanatomy with real bedside decision-making.
You’ll work through structured, condition-specific rehabilitation programs — including stroke and motor neurone disease — and learn to recognise and correct the gait patterns that so often define a patient’s functional recovery.
What You’ll Gain
This course connects the “why” of neuroanatomy to the “how” of neurorehabilitation, so you leave able to reason through a case from first assessment to a tailored treatment plan.
Neuroanatomy & Localization
- Build a working map of the brain, brainstem and spinal cord
- Reason through upper vs lower motor neurone presentations
Core Rehabilitation Techniques
- Facilitation and tone-management strategies
- Exercise, technology-assisted and electrotherapy options
Applied Condition Programs
- Structured stroke and motor neurone disease pathways
- Recognise and correct common neurological gait patterns
Questions This Course Helps You Answer
By the end, you’ll be able to confidently explain:
- How to localize a neurological lesion from the clinical picture alone
- Which rehabilitation strategies best support recovery at each stage after stroke
- How to read a gait deviation and choose a correction strategy that fits it
- How physiotherapy goals should shift as a progressive condition like MND advances

- Basic neuroanatomy and physiology background
- Suited to physiotherapists and neuro-rehabilitation clinicians
