SmartPhysioUK, a leading organization specializing in disaster and war injury rehabilitation, has successfully completed a five-day voluntary mission in Gaza. The team provided essential rehabilitation services to a large number of civilians affected by the recent conflict. In total, the team treated 106 war-related injuries, alongside 23 additional injuries sustained by caregivers while tending to the wounded.

Breakdown of Treated Injuries
The injuries treated by the SmartPhysioUK team included a wide variety of trauma cases, including:

• 3 cases of phosphorus burns affecting children under 24 months, resulting in damage to the nervous system.
• 4 gunshot wounds.
• 8 severe burn injuries caused by barrel bombs.
• 31 cases of shrapnel injuries from missile explosions.
• 36 crush injuries resulting from collapsed buildings.
• 24 cases of injuries to the neck, spine, and limbs.

Throughout the mission, SmartPhysioUK utilized the latest rehabilitation techniques and technologies to treat these complex injuries, with a focus on restoring joint movement, treating burn injuries, and rehabilitating peripheral nerve damage.

Notable Results
During the five-day mission, the team achieved remarkable progress in many cases. Thanks to their efforts, approximately 15 to 20 patients, who were previously unable to walk or required assistance, regained their ability to walk independently. Additionally, all burn injury cases saw significant improvements in joint mobility, while partial recovery was noted in patients suffering from peripheral nerve damage caused by shrapnel.
